Inspired by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan’s Education Movement, The Vaniyambadi Muslim Educational Society was established in 1901, soon after the Fifteenth Annual Session of the All-India Mohammedan Educational Conference at Madras. Janab Moulvi Moudu Mohammed Ibrahim Sahib, along with Janab Malayalam Ameenuddin Sahib, Janab Sailappai Abdul Khader Sahib and Janab Vavanghani Mohammed Ebrahim Sahib played pivotal role in founding the Society. With their untiring efforts, the Society started Islamiah School in 1903. It was recognised by the Government  the same year. It imparted  secular education  based on  the syllabus, prescribed by the Government, along with religious instruction. The School obtained  the status of High School in 1912.

An interesting fact about Islamiah College is that, it is the second minority college of India after Aligarh Muslim University which was established in the year 1875. The third one is Jamia Millia Islamiah which was established in the year 1920, just one year before the establishment of Islamiah College, Vaniyambadi.

Janab Nawab Ghulam Ahmed Kalami Sahib and Janab Yackub Hasan Sait Sahib, although they did not belong to Vaniyambadi, they took very keen and personal interest in the establishment of the School and College. Their vast  knowledge and experience in educational matters was very much helpful in obtaining  the affiliation to these institutions  as per the Government norms. Janab Takadi Badruddin Sahib played a leading role in establishing the above Institutions.

Janab Takadi Badruddin Sahib, Janab Malang Hayath Batcha Sahib, Janab T. Ameenudddin Sahib, Nawab C. Abdul Hakeem  Sahib, Janab Merit Mohammed Ismail Sahib, Janab M. Abdur Rahman Sahib, Janab C.L. Abdul Subhan Sahib, Janab Kaka Md. Ismail Sahib and  Janab Jalal Abdul Karim Sahib were both philanthropists and visionaries who helped these institutions stand on from foundations .

Janab Takadi Badruddin Sahib and Janab Malang Hayath Batcha Sahib were instrumental in the construction of land mark building of Islamiah Boys’ Higher Secondary School. The relentless efforts of  Janab M.L. Abdul Jabbar Sahib for the cause of women education eventually bore fruit and the Middle School for girls was established in 1957.  Janab Motoor Nazeer Ahmed Sahib  took keen interest in upgrading  this school into a High School,  and helped  the girls of our community  have higher education.

Islamiah Industrial Training Centre  was started in 1984,  and it was sponsored by  Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah with a  princely  grant of grant US $ 2,38,000. This project was realized  by the unflagging efforts of Janab Kaka Mohamed Umer Sahib, of Omarabad. Janab Malayalam Anver Sahib contributed his experience and knowledge to this Institute for more than two decades.

Islamiah Women’s Arts & Science College was established in 1997 by the untiring efforts of the then General Secretary Janab Kaka Mohamed Zubair Sahib.Apart from the above mentioned personalities, there were innumerable others who contributed their best. With their foresight, initiative and dynamism they created the necessary infrastructure to provide education on modern lines to the new generation of not only our community but also to all other communities.
